Welcome to Software Innovation X Energy, an event co-hosted by ENECHANGE and Energy Tech Meetup, with speakers from Octopus Energy, Nature, and ENECHANGE.

At this event, we will showcase innovative software projects that solve real-world problems in the energy sector. You'll have the opportunity to hear from three talented engineers from different energy IT companies, who will share their expertise on using software to tackle specific challenges in energy.

This event is for you if you're an engineer looking to broaden your knowledge of the fascinating world of energy IT, or you’re an energy sector professional looking to understand the role of software in the sector.

Hank Ehly works as a software engineer for ENECHANGE Ltd, where he uses technologies such as Python, AWS, Airflow, and Spark to design and develop applications that make use of vast amounts of smart meter data gathered from all around Japan.

Fraser Tooth works as a Software Engineer in the tech wing of Octopus Energy (Kraken Technologies), using Python & Typescript to build out “Kraken” for Japan. A self-described “Energy Nerd”, Fraser is passionate about giving people the power and knowledge to understand and take an active role in decarbonization and the energy transition.

Masakazu Ohtsuka is a Co-Founder and Software Engineer of Nature Inc. Masakazu is a full stack developer who develops electronics design, firmware in C to Go on AWS. Currently working on Nature’s backend that handles 300k+ connections of Nature’s IoT devices.

ENECHANGE is a company that provides energy-related services, including demand response, EV charging (mobile app, charging stations, station location APIs), smart meter profitability analysis, online electricity/gas bill payment, and more. The company was founded by a group of people who wanted to devote their lives to energy issues and began as a research project at Cambridge University before expanding globally.
